Liberia, Africa

In Liberia, WHCI is planning to collaborate with local health clinic, Robert Moore Memorial Healthcare Center.

This partnership will strengthen capacity for "Rapid Testing" (HIV testing), introduction for the first time in the country of PreP and PEP

PEP treatment

"PEP stands for post-exposure prophylaxis. It means taking antiretroviral medicines (ART) after being potentially exposed to HIV to prevent becoming infected. PEP must be started within 72 hours after a recent possible exposure to HIV, but the sooner you start PEP, the better". (CDC definition" from the Center for Disease Control).

PREP treatment

"Pre-exposure prophylaxis (or PrEP) is a way for people who do not have HIV but who are at very high risk of getting HIV to prevent HIV infection by taking a pill every day". (CDC definition from the Center for Disease Control).
