PRESS RELEASE Febuary 11, 2003 NEW WEBSITE FOR WALKERTON CENTRE Next time you log on to the Internet, check out www.whci.org. Thanks to the efforts of the Walkerton Healthy Community Initiative (WHCI), the world may begin to see Walkerton in a more positive light and not as the "tainted water" town. This new website showcases several public education programs that clarify the connections between environmental health and human health. The Bruce-Grey Environmental Resource Centre provides information on a wide variety of environmental topics, and acts as the base for the WHCI's public awareness programs. One such program is the Rural Water Protection Program, whereby rural homeowners can benefit from the expertise of a trained assessor who will visit their property. Website visitors can also view beautiful art prints produced through the Walkerton Water Stories Project. Catch up on any of Lynda Bausinger's Green Talk newspaper columns you may have missed by clicking on the Media button. Follow the links to other non-profit environmental organizations and sources of related information. The staff of the Bruce-Grey Environmental Resource Centre will also happily provide walk-ins with information and advice on any related topic. The Centre is located in Suite 4 of the Victoria Jubilee Hall in Walkerton. The collection of art prints made by local citizens as part of the Walkerton Water Stories Project will be on exhibit at the Public Library Art Gallery from Feb 24 to Mar 2. Call 881-1795 for more information on any of the WHCI's programs. A special thank you to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for making this website possible. Our thanks as well to the talented and dedicated staff at Integra Design Group of Owen Sound for bringing this website to life. Mary McGeachy,
